Just getting started

It must be obvious that I am new to the blog/website thing.  I am a complete newbie and I know it. I worked extremely hard to get the site up and running, adding recipes, a logo, blog content and more.  Right as I got this blog going we bought a house and I have been doing a complete gut and re-model which has taken up all my time for the last 6 weeks.  And just as I am new to blogs, I am far from an expert at re-modeling a house, but with both I just do my research, try things and move forward.  So far so good.

I have been able to connect with a lot of people, but I haven’t taken the bold step of really promoting my blog as I know it is not where it needs to be to compete with the numerous other vegan blogs.  There are some really cool and informative vegan blogs out there!  For me, I have gained confidence knowing that people who have found my site and are not vegan have tried some recipes and actually liked them so much they made them again!  WIN!  I also know my site lacks photographs and dialogue to go with the recipes.  While I stated early on that I wanted to connect with those that want to eat healthy, but don’t have the time to read long, flowery dialogues with tons of pictures, I also recognize that to connect with a larger audience, I need a balance and more content.  I will get better I promise.

So, now to my statement “with a little help from my friends”.  My daughter decided to promote my site on a Reddit site dedicated to vegan living.  Today alone, I have experienced a 300% increase in traffic over my previous best day.  My hope is that some of those who visited my site find content or recipes that inspire them to try a vegan meal, to share my site with others and to comment on my site so that I can hear the good, the bad and the ugly so I can continue to improve.  My goal is to share my story, my reason for being vegan, my passion and recipes for great tasting food and to maybe encourage others to give it a try.  My signature statement is “Just trying to do the right thing”.  I hope that resonates and inspires others = Win for All of Us!
