Taking a step back
My goal when I started this blog site was to inspire people to at least try a vegan recipe or two and think about the benefits to your health, environment and our animal friends. But how do I reach enough people to truly make a difference? How can expect to have a large impact when I can’t even get our extended family to have a discussion or try one of my meals? When I go to the grocery store and see what most people are buying and eating it can get depressing – I wish I could show them there is a better way.
So, I guess that is what I am doing in my own, very small way. I know I have connected with people and made them at least think about all the benefits of eating a plant based diet. I have had numerous conversations about my 3 pillars of being vegan. 1. Concern for your health 2. Concern for your environment 3. Concern for animals. How you must be passionate about all 3 to fully commit to being a vegan, but that you at least need to consider these 3 things in your daily life. Everyone plays a role in our future and their own footprint on this earth. As a group, we are making an impact and I am proud to be a part of that voice (however small my voice is!).
I love sharing my recipes and I love sharing my food. I hear it all the time when I share a dish I made with non-vegans, “I could be vegan too if he cooked for me every day”. Well, you can do it! And you can eat great tasting food, better than any meat dish – I guarantee it! Awesome tasting food with big, bold flavors. Satisfying and healthy too! Just give one recipe a try and share this site with one friend. I just got a message from someone who made my pesto and served it with fresh veggies over pasta for her non-vegan husband, and guess what – HE LOVED IT! That’s what I’m talking about – start with one meal and then two and see where it leads. It is a great start and better than where you were before.
Pushing ahead
I know that part of my challenge is my lack of creativity on my site (my pictures are limited and they stink)and I have a limited knowledge of SEO, social media usage and how to capture a larger audience. I am dedicated to learning more about all of these things, and my daughter is going to help with the creative side of things – Thank God! For those of you who read this, visit my site and are part of the voice to make things better in this world – thank you and keep it up. Hopefully I can play a small part in that process and together we can create positive change for ourselves, our animal friends and this world we live in!
